The Race Track

A Race Track Design for an Imaginary Game

   This race track was designed for an assignment and made in Unity. The requirements were:
- The quality of the level must be at grey box level.
- The map had to be created by the given modular road kit.
- One lap must take 20-30 seconds long.
- The track must have at least one alternative shortcut, and one secret shortcut (alternative paths and a secret path).

Backstory and Environmental Storytelling

   Therefore, I came up with a story and started to design the level according to that.

   " You (player), are a notorious racer on the streets. One day, you heard that a new race track is going to be built for the "International Car Expo" with the sponsorship of "TankCo", so you wanted to test the track before everyone else. This was going to add more reputation and heat to your name. "

    To support the backstory behind it, I made the track as it is "in construction" with some props like cones, bulldozers, unfinished shortcuts and tents for the construction workers.

     Also, I have to show my other idea for the secret path in the level, and it came up as a "Car Dealer which is being prepared for an expo." The player was able to go into the building, and it would give an advantage to whoever uses it. 

EVELYNN [Request]

  As an assignment from another course, an AI racer for the racing track is requested. Therefore, Evelynn(TankCo's owner's daughter) is added to the level. You can see how it works, and how she can see the track from the One-Page Design Document.
